Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Burkina Faso
Language: English

Our Mission

The Embassy serves and protects the interests of Nigeria and its citizens in Burkina Faso, strengthens the relations between the two countries and promotes their cooperation.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Burkina Faso has a simple mission: to serve and protect the interests of Nigeria and its citizens, to strengthen the bilateral relations between Nigeria and Burkina Faso, and to promote cooperation between the two countries.

Our priorities

Serving Nigerians in Burkina Faso

Nigerian citizens who live in Burkina Faso, or who are passing through, can count on the Embassy for consular assistance. The Embassy helps them with travel documents, keeps in touch with the community through consular registration, and assists those who face an emergency, such as a lost passport, an accident, an arrest or the death of a relative.

Welcoming visitors to Nigeria

The Embassy informs people in Burkina Faso who wish to travel to Nigeria about the entry rules and guides them towards the official visa portals of the Nigeria Immigration Service. It also helps with the authentication of documents intended for use in Nigeria or abroad.

Strengthening relations between the two countries

The Embassy is the permanent channel of communication between the Government of Nigeria and the Government of Burkina Faso. It prepares and follows official visits and consultations, such as the visit of the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Ouagadougou in December 2025, after which the two governments agreed to sustain regular consultations and deepen their cooperation.

Promoting Nigeria

The Embassy promotes Nigeria's economy, culture and tourism in Burkina Faso, and encourages exchanges between businesses, institutions and citizens of the two countries.

Supporting regional cooperation

Nigeria and Burkina Faso were both among the founding members of the Economic Community of West African States in 1975. Although Burkina Faso's withdrawal from ECOWAS took effect on 29 January 2025, the two countries remain closely connected by geography, trade and the movement of people, and they share an interest in the peace and security of the region.

Our commitments to the public

  • We receive every visitor with courtesy and respect.
  • We publish clear information on our procedures and point to the official sources.
  • We handle personal information with care, as described in our Privacy policy.
  • We keep an emergency line open at all hours for Nigerians in distress.
